It’s official, Feedburner.com have updated their SmartCast Technology to automatically create RSS enclosures for media links within MSN Spaces blog posts. Anyone with a blog at MSN Spaces can now sign up free with Feedburner.com and use their MSN RSS syndication feed to burn a new SmartCast enabled feed with Feedburner.com.
The repercussions of this bearing in mind the market position of Microsoft could be hugely significant. It now means anyone can take the RSS feed from an MSN Spaces site and burn a new feed themselves potentially turning any MSN blog space into a multimedia podcast.
Initial tests show some interesting results with the feeds being capable of delivering several media formats. Microsoft feeds deliver all of the information contained in an MSN Space. This includes the blog posts, photo albums, media files, and custom link list modules.
Feedburner.com also have plans for updating their Headline Animator promotional feeds. This will likely entail the capability to fully customize the look of burned RSS feeds for inclusion to websites, forums and emails.
